Joint Programmes of the UN and Partners
The UNDAF includes four main pillars or priority areas: 1) Poverty Reduction and Governance (9%); 2) Food and Nutrition Security (13%); 3) Clean Water, Sustainable Environment and Energy (9%); and 4) Quality Basic Services (69%). Total resource commitment under the UNDAF is presently USD 281 million or approximately $47 million per year. However, since the UNDAF was signed, new activities have been identified which will see annual investment under UNDAF rising 70% to $80 million/year.
To promote efficiency, increase synergy and reduce transaction costs, several joint programmes are being implemented, with two additional programmes at the formulation stage:
- Tajikistan-Afghanistan Good Neighbourhood Initiative (UNDP Tajikistan, UNDP Afghanistan, UN Agencies, Government of Tajikistan and Afghanistan)
- National Vaccination (UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, NGOs)
- National HIV/AIDS (UNDP, WHO, UNAIDS, UNFPA, NGOS)
- Malaria and Tuberculosis (UNDP, WHO, UNFPA, NGOS)
- Rural Growth (UNDP, GTZ, NGOs)
- Risk Monitoring and Early Warning System (UNDP, FAO, WFP, WHO, IMF, Govt)
- Reducing Violence Against Women (proposal stage) (UNIFEM, UNDP)
- Regional Project on Migration (IOM, UNDP, UNIFEM, ILO, UNHCR and NGOs) Tojikistoni Hameshasabz (Evergreen Tajikistan) (UNDP, FAO, WFP, UNICEF, GTZ)
- Good Neighbour Programme- Afgan-Tajik Border (under formulation) All UN agencies)
- Gender and Democratic Governance in Development: Delivering Basic Services to Women (UNIFEM, UNDP)
- Poverty – Environment Initiative in Tajikistan (UNDP, UNEP)
