Welcome to the United Nations in Tajikistan!
Our Vision
The United Nations is committed to assisting the Government of Tajikistan in attaining the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 as articulated in the National Development Strategy and the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper. The UN agencies in Tajikistan are resolved to working more effectively and efficiently with one another, as well as with national counterparts and other partners, to overcome economic, social and political obstacles to development.
The UN remains committed to ‘standing up together’ to advocate for rights, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and policy changes which will translate into improved living conditions and human dignity. Building upon our universal mandate, worldwide technical expertise and our relationship with the Government, the UN Country Team and all UN staff in Tajikistan strive to assist the poor and other vulnerable populations in a sustainable way.
The UN agencies in Tajikistan are committed to increasingly closer collaboration with one another through programme integration on both the policy and field levels, the continued expansion of common services, and ultimately improved capacity to deliver as one. By 2009, the UN aims to have sufficiently integrated planning and implementation processes and undertaken structural adjustments to become one of the 20 pilot countries in the world eligible to be considered as a full fledged Joint Office, in line with the recommendations of the High-Level Panel on System-wide Coherence.
