Awarding Ceremony of Journalists –The Winners of Zero Discrimination Contest Conducted in Dushanbe

The official awarding ceremony of journalists of the National Media Contest on Raising Awareness of general population and decision makers on Tolerance promotion and Stigma and Discrimination Reduction took place in Dushanbe on 16 December, 2014.  The ceremony was conducted during the Art Event conducted within the Voice of Youth Tajikistan - 2014” campaign.

The event was supported by WHO, UNFPA, UN Joint Advocacy Project on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF), UNICEF, Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the population of Republic of Tajikistan. 

Participants representing youth, journalists, and representatives from civil society organizations, officials from international organizations, AIDS Centre and general public took part in this event.

The national Media Contest was designed to support international campaign “Zero Discrimination” launched by UNAIDS and supported by other UN and international agencies, which   aims to raise awareness among local population and decision makers on the problems faced by people living with HIV (PLHIV) and other people at risk, including key population, most at risk adolescent (MARA), women and girls.

The contest was announced in early June 2014 and ended in December 2014. Juries representing specialists from governmental, international and national agencies working in the sphere of HIV selected the best 9 materials among more than 70 for the  followingcategories:journalists working for print mass media (newspapers, magazines);journalists working for digital mass media (TV, radio stations) and journalists working in electronic mass media (web-sites, blogs, etc.).

All other contest participants also received memorable gifts from the organizers. Such positive  initiatives will be continued by the organizing partners in the future as well.
