To promote efficiency, increase synergy and reduce transaction costs, several joint programmes are being implemented:
Joint Programme of the UN agencies to support the Ombudsman program through the Steering Committee
Goals: Improved knowledge of the national human right institutions (NHRI) staff to deal with complaints of right holders; strengthened capacity of NHRI for public outreach and education; improved partnership of NHRI with key state authors and the civil society with the view of promoting and influencing changes in policies, legislation and institutional arrangements for implementation of human rights commitments; increased networking between Central Asian and CIS NHRIs; the Ombudsman's office is supported to address children's cases more effectively.

Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, Health Reforms
Goals: Build national capacity to set the strategic vision and direction, and performing the core functions related to policy, priority setting, regulation, monitoring and evaluation; implementation of evidence based protocols; building strategic alliances in the area of maternal and child health and nutrition, including prevention of HIV/AIDS in vulnerable youth.

Empowering Communities with Better Livelihoods and Social Protection
Goals: Improve Economic, Food, Environmental, Health and Personal Security for the Population of the Rasht Valley, Tajikistan.

Reproductive Health/Maternal Health Goals: strengthen the health system capacity in the areas of policy formulation; planning and monitoring of sectoral and national programmes; improved access to high-quality basic services.

UN Joint Advocacy Project on HIV
Goals: expand and coordinate UN technical support to improve national capacity on HIV programmes; contribute to national priorities in HIV prevention, treatment care and support to achieve mid-term targets of MDG 6; enhance the national capacity on advocacy, strategic information and management for effective implementation of the programmes; tracking epidemic and response as well as reducing stigma and discrimination towards PLHIV; promotion of human rights and gender equality.
