Dushanbe, Tajikistan, June 4, 2013 - The World Bank Group today marks the 20th anniversary of its cooperation with Tajikistan -- a partnership that has made an important contribution to reducing poverty and promoting economic growth and development in Tajikistan.

“Tajikistan’s partnership with the World Bank Group started in early 1990s, when the country was going through its most difficult times.  After the civil war, our foremost priority was to help the country rebuild infrastructure, restore livelihoods, and support economic recovery,” noted Laura Tuck, World Bank Director for Strategy and Operations in Europe and Central Asia. “The people of Tajikistan should take pride in the achievements since then. Poverty declined by half since 2003 and the economy grew at an annual average rate of almost 8 percent in the last decade.”

Dushanbe, June 10, 2013. The "HIV Workplace Corner" at the main training hall of the Judicial Training Center, at the Council of Justice`s premises was inaugurated today. The Inauguration was opened by Mr. Muhammad Rasulov,  Deputy Director of the Judicial Training Center at the Council of Justice in Tajikistan. He stated that:" ...Starting from today all new trainees  - judges and legal magistrates of the Center - will have free access to this HIV Workplace Corner and receive important human rights based information on modes of transmission of HIV, how to prevent, how to access treatment, care and support measures”.

On May 23, 2013, UN Joint Advocacy Project on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF) in Tajikistan, in cooperation with Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism of Sino district of Tajikistan celebrated the Youth Day. Series of events on the occasion of the Youth Day were conducted in the capital park named after S. Ayni.

During the event a series of awareness and social activities were organized by the active pupils and students from colleges and schools of Dushanbe.
